Eleanor Rarity
Eleanor has always loved all things creative and being passionate for the arts. Beginning with her first production, in the Shetland Islands, of Pongwiffy in the early 2000s, she’s continued to perform in a variety of musical theatre, choirs, plays, and creative events throughout the best part of her 30 years. In Timaru, she’s been an ensemble member for four SCDL musical theatre productions – including 2018’s Beauty and the Beast, under the tutelage of musical director and former teacher Rob Martin. With the aforementioned teacher, she starred as Catherine of Arrowtown in a musical based on Henry VIII and his wives, along with having her very own mini-solo concert. For the past few years, she’s been involved with Aidan Theatre, both on and off stage, most prominently Rosalind in As You Like It 2022 and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream 2024. Alongside these, she’s helped with an Aidan Theatre holiday programme and performed as part of Ignite Timaru’s First Fridays’ in 2022. She also enjoys providing musical entertainment for local groups, including guest starring at her former choir Rhythmix Singers concert, several concerts for Timaru Scottish Society, and entertained crowds prior to the Santa Parade for the past two years. Outside of this, Eleanor’s keen to be involved in Timaru’s creative scene (and helping it grow) in general, no matter what type of art it is.
